Neck cancer

Neck cancer also commonly known as head and neck cancer. It begins with squamous cells that line the moist, mucosal surfaces inside the mouth, nose and throat.


Oral cavity cancer involving Mouth, Tongue, Buccal , Lip, Palate , may lead to cancer spread to Neck

Laryngeal cancer –  larynx, known as the voice box, is located at the top of the windpipe. It involves breathing, swallowing and talking. It is one of the common throat cancer 

Nasopharyngeal cancer – It is a rare cancer that does not cause symptoms at the beginning of the early stages and is detected at the later stages. The nasopharynx is the upper part of the throat. The cancer cells start growing from the nasopharynx.

Hypopharyngeal cancer – it is the lower part of the throat, hypopharynx. It is also called a gullet.

Some uncommon cancers result in neck cancer, such as nasal cavity and paranasal sinus cancer, and salivary glands cancer.


  • Surgery- This is the primary treatment for neck cancers, and patients usually get cured with this surgery alone. In contrast, for other patients, it might be combined with chemotherapy or radiation therapy.
  • Chemotherapy- when neck cancer spreads to the bones and other parts of the body, then chemotherapy is applied
